Acne treatment in Bern

- Treat acne scars
The information provided here on acne treatment is general information. A treatment tailored to your needs can only be carried out after a clear diagnosis by the dermatologist Dr. Urs Büttiker, dermatologist Bern Bubenberg. We treat acne patients every day at our Bern Bubenberg dermatology practice. Acne can be treated well both externally and internally with tablets. In addition to the tablet treatment, we also offer deep cleansing of the pores using hot steam and by squeezing out the comedones with a "comedone squeezer" device.
Treating acne scars
Acne can cause scars. Here different methods of scar treatment can be used. We differentiate between treatments with the dermaroller, laser, peeling, " subcision" (fine surgical needles) and skin abrasion (microdermabrasion).
Treatment with the dermaroller
First, the relevant areas are cleansed and then the anesthetic cream is applied. This remains on the skin for at least 30 minutes, after which you will feel less pain in the affected areas
The dermaroller is used to roll over the affected skin. The needles of the dermaroller only penetrate a few millimetres into the skin to stimulate the collagen. At least 2 treatments are required to tighten the skin and make the scars disappear.
There are no visible side effects and you can go back to work immediately afterwards.
Treatment with the laser
The laser (as with the dermaroller) tightens the skin by heating the collagen in particular so that acne scars disappear. Very beautiful and effective results are achieved. This effect can also be enhanced by injecting "platelet-rich" plasma, known as "PRP", which is obtained quickly and easily from your own blood. This procedure has long been used successfully in orthopaedics, e.g. for athrosis, and has been described in studies; now, according to new studies, this method is also effective in aesthetic medicine for wrinkle and scar treatments.
Peeling
Depending on the intensity and duration of the peeling, the same effect is achieved as with the dermaroller and laser by stimulating collagen. However, strong peelings make visible changes to the skin (crusts) for a few days. 5 to 6 treatments are necessary.
Subcision
Subcision "fine surgical needle" removes specific acne scars (see image) from the hubs. 1-2 treatments are necessary
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a superficial sanding of the skin. As a rule, this treatment only gives a short-term result. A mild peeling is also used as an alternative. See link (chemical peeling)
Treatment of open pores
A peel or laser can be used very effectively for this issue.

Acne treatment (deep cleansing)
Deep cleansing not only aims to treat existing breakouts, but also to prevent future breakouts.
A necessary part of acne treatment is the manual cleansing of comedones by gently squeezing them out of the follicles along with disinfectant and anti-inflammatory measures.
